ocated just outside what is modern-day Mexico City, Teotihuacan was the first true urban complex in Mesoamerica. At its height, Teotihuacan had a population of about 200,000 and was one of the largest cities in the world. Such a dense population required precise organization and included several tiers of specialists such as priests, architects, craftsmen, and artists, as well as farmers.
